It is not new thought on how important it is to stay young in heart. And we all yearn for that feeling of freedom, endless energy and lightness.
But when life tightens it's grip on us, when job, family, demands and endless tasks take the best of us, it is hard to feel playful and light.
We are drained, tired and unmotivated.
Now for decades I was admiring rare people who really did looked and behaved like they never got old. You know that 40 and something colleague that cycles couple of kilometres before work, that 60 and something lady that dances like a fiery 20 year old.
They all have something in common. And no, it is not Superman's genetics in their blood. They do have problems and their bodies deteriorate with age just like everyone else's.
But they all have the mindset that pushes them forward no mater what.
MOTIVATION.
It sounds simple yet it is so easy to overlook the big picture. To get lost in details and forget WHY.
Why are we doing job that we do, either we love it, or we love impact it does on society or we do it to support family, or we do it to save enough to change career. Whatever the back motive for our work, never ever loose sight of it. Remind yourself of it daily as much as needed. Put it in rhymes, write it on sticker notes and put them next to your desk, bed or bathroom mirror. Just make sure the 'motive' is there, visible and constantly reminding you of your 'why'.
PLAYFULNESS
Second thing that youthful people and kids have in common is playfulness. They don't do because they must, but because they want to.
Yes, I hear you, there is too much of 'must' in our lives to leave any space for 'want'.
Believe me, juggling survival jobs and family duties with writing, acting modelling and exercising, I know exactly how you feel, but hear me out anyway.
What if, in the light of previous 'big picture' and our 'why', we try and see our 'musts' as 'wants'.
Like: I don't have to take that full time receptionist job, but I want to. I want it for six months with overtime and everything and I am prepared to put my writing and acting aside for that time in order to save money to pay for Personal Trainer course that will give me better job opportunities and more time for my art in long run.
All of a sudden I am not crushed to take that job but I am thrilled to do it.
Try and do that for your musts.
FIND YOUR WHY and then PLAY.
And observe how energy is rising, body gets lighter and you are smiling more often.
Before you know you will feel like 5 year old who goes to 'sleep fast' and can't wait for the morning to keep pursuing the game.
Let the magic begin,
